Title: "Peer and Technology-Supported Integrated Illness Self-Management"
Karen L. Fortuna, PhD, MSW is a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award T32 Training Post-Doctoral Fellow in Geriatric Mental Health Services Research (NRSA T32MH073553) at Dartmouth Centers for Health and Aging. Her primary research interest is service delivery strategies for older adults with serious mental illnesses and chronic health conditions. Dr. Fortuna is currently engaging in highly innovative research at the interface of medical and psychiatric self-management and the use of technology and peer specialists (PeerTECH). Dr. Fortuna was recently awarded the NARSAD Young Investigator Grants from the Brain and Behavior Foundation for her work with peer specialists. During her upcoming presentation, Dr. Fortuna will discuss the development and implementation of PeerTECH, lessons learned working with peer specialists, and pilot study findings.
